Mansour Samb draws Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 transfer interest

Mansour Samb’s fast start at VFC La Roche-sur-Yon has placed the Senegalese forward on the radar of clubs from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. Several teams have sought information about his situation as the end of the transfer window approaches, giving his performances an immediate bearing on his next move.

The 23-year-old has scored five times in three Ligue 3 matches and currently tops the division’s scoring standings. He began with three goals in La Roche-sur-Yon’s 3-2 win over Versailles. Samb then decided the meeting with Amiens by converting a penalty in a 1-0 victory, before scoring again in the 1-1 draw against Cannes.

Samb is playing in France on loan from Danish club Horsens. One Ligue 1 side has examined the possibility of signing him permanently this summer while leaving him at La Roche-sur-Yon for the remainder of the season. That arrangement would allow the club to secure the forward without immediately changing his current sporting situation.

Ligue 2 clubs are also studying a move, although their plans could take a different form. Those teams may seek to end Samb’s existing loan and bring him into their squads straight away. His return of five goals from the opening three rounds has therefore made his loan status a central issue in the late-market interest surrounding him.
