Marseille consider late move for Karl Toko-Ekambi

Marseille are exploring a post-window deal for free agent Karl Toko-Ekambi after losing two forwards this summer.

Marseille could still reinforce their attack after the transfer window closed, with free agent Karl Toko-Ekambi under consideration. The move would give Bruno Genesio an experienced option after the club completed the summer without signing a new player.

The final outgoing deal saw Quinten Timber join Crystal Palace on deadline day. Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also left during the summer, reducing Marseille’s attacking options. Genesio had previously indicated that more departures would be needed before one or two arrivals could be considered, while saying he would have to work with the squad available.

Toko-Ekambi is unattached following his spell in Qatar, meaning he can still sign after the official window has closed. Discussions with Marseille’s sporting leadership have advanced in recent days, and the Cameroon international has spoken directly with the club’s staff. He is understood to be keen on returning to Ligue 1 and ready to accept a modest salary to make the move possible.

Genesio coached Toko-Ekambi at Lyon and knows his athleticism, teamwork and versatility. The forward can operate on the left or through the middle, offering experienced cover. No final agreement has been completed, but the situation could move forward in the coming days.
