Mbaye Ndiaye delivers first Olympiacos EuroLeague show
Mbaye Ndiaye scored 23 points and was named Olympiacos MVP despite the club’s narrow EuroLeague loss in Bologna.
Mbaye Ndiaye has established himself as a growing presence at Olympiacos after producing his first major EuroLeague performance for the Greek club. The Senegal international was named Olympiacos’ MVP despite a narrow defeat by Virtus Bologna, a result that leaves his team with two wins from its opening three games.
Ndiaye entered from the bench and spent 20 minutes on court, finishing with 23 points, seven rebounds and one block. He made his biggest contribution late in the game, scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter as Olympiacos tried to overturn the deficit. Virtus Bologna held on to win 96-94, leaving Ndiaye’s individual display without a winning outcome.
The performance represents a significant increase from his first two EuroLeague appearances since joining Olympiacos from ASVEL in September. He scored four points in eight minutes during the opening-round victory at Baskonia, which Olympiacos won 106-89. In the second round, he played 19 minutes against Zalgiris Kaunas and contributed nine points in a 93-91 success.
Ndiaye’s latest showing also confirms his increasing role after earlier appearances in the European Super Cup and the Greek Basketball Super Cup. His 23-point return is his highest total for Olympiacos in the competition and gives the Senegalese forward a clear personal landmark, even as his club slipped to its first EuroLeague loss of the season.
