Olympique de Marseille set for bonus from Ndiaye sale

Marseille could receive about €5 million if Iliman Ndiaye completes a move from Everton to Tottenham.

Olympique de Marseille could secure valuable transfer income without selling another player, with Iliman Ndiaye’s expected move from Everton to Tottenham potentially activating a payment to his former club. The money would give Marseille some relief as it tries to reshape its squad under strict financial limits.

Ndiaye joined Everton from Marseille two years ago for about €18 million. The French club retained a clause granting it 10% of the profit from any later transfer. Tottenham, coached by Roberto De Zerbi, are expected to complete a deal for the Senegal forward before the transfer window closes, with the fee understood to be close to €70 million. Marseille could therefore collect roughly €5 million from the transaction.

The possible windfall comes at a difficult time for Marseille. The club had still made no signing by August 30 and must raise money through departures before it can recruit. New coach Bruno Genesio knew financial restrictions would shape his work, but the situation has become more severe as his squad has gradually been reduced. The prolonged Igor Paixao situation has also added to the pressure around the club.

Ndiaye’s transfer would not provide a new player for Genesio, but it could give Marseille room to act in the closing phase of the market. The payment remains dependent on the proposed Tottenham move being completed.
