OM weigh late move for free agent Karl Toko Ekambi
Marseille could finish the window without major business, with Karl Toko Ekambi discussed as a possible low-cost addition.
Marseille could reach the end of the summer transfer window without another major arrival or departure. The club’s financial oversight by the DNCG limits its room to manoeuvre, leaving a late move for an experienced forward as one of the few remaining possibilities.
The main attacking option under discussion is Karl Toko Ekambi. The 33-year-old Cameroon international is unattached, has spoken with Marseille’s directors and is understood to have agreed to join on a very modest salary. He was born in Paris and has previously worked with coach Bruno Genesio at Lyon, giving the potential deal a familiar link within the squad’s sporting structure.
Toko Ekambi has played in the Middle East since 2023 but has made limited impact there, so his arrival would represent a practical squad addition rather than a headline signing. A second goalkeeper is also being considered, although neither deal is certain before the French market closes on Tuesday evening.
The likeliest outcome is therefore a quiet final day, with no incoming or outgoing transfer completed. The only departure still viewed as possible is a loan for Derek Cornelius, while Igor Paixao, Nayef Aguerd, Emerson Palmieri and Quinten Timber are expected to remain. Marseille have already seen Mason Greenwood, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Leonardo Balerdi, Facundo Medina and Geronimo Rulli leave.
