Paris Saint-Germain Move Four Points Clear in Starligue

Paris Saint-Germain remain unbeaten after five matches and have opened a four-point lead at the top of the Starligue.

Paris Saint-Germain have established an early gap at the top of the Starligue, with no other team matching their unbeaten start. The five-time winners of the opening five rounds are now four points ahead of Nantes, Montpellier, Nîmes and Saran. The run strengthens their position as they pursue a 14th French title, which would be their 13th in succession.

Paris defeated Saran 36-27 in the fifth round, extending their perfect record to five victories. The visitors led 19-15 at half-time after quickly creating separation, although Saran briefly cut the deficit to three goals and kept the contest open. Paris responded after the restart, increasing the margin to eight before moving 10 goals clear with 15 minutes remaining.

Luc Steins was central to the result, converting all six of his attempts and providing eight assists. Saran had a strong contribution from Alban Simonet, who scored six times and set up nine goals, but his efforts could not prevent the hosts from slipping to a second heavy defeat against the league leaders. With Paris already four points clear after only five rounds, the early standings point to a title race in which the champions have quickly separated themselves from the field.
