Paris Saint-Germain open title defence with 6-1 win
Paris Saint-Germain began their Champions League title defence with a 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava.
Paris Saint-Germain made a commanding start to their defence of the Champions League title, putting their attacking strength on display in the opening round. The French side controlled the match from the early stages and established a strong platform for the European campaign.
Ousmane Dembele gave PSG the lead in the 17th minute and struck again six minutes later. Ferran Torres then took over, scoring before half-time and adding two more goals after the break to complete his hat-trick. Suleiman Kamara pulled one back for Slovan Bratislava in the 58th minute, but the response was immediate. Fabian Ruiz completed PSG’s six-goal haul three minutes from full time, securing a 6-1 victory.
Torres’s three goals and Dembele’s brace provided the main attacking returns, while Ruiz added the final touch to a performance that left the holders with a clear early statement in the competition. Slovan Bratislava could not match PSG’s pressure after conceding twice in the opening 23 minutes and now begin their campaign with a heavy defeat.
PSG’s next European assignment is an away meeting with Manchester City, giving the holders a more demanding test in the following round. Slovan Bratislava will host Stuttgart as they seek a response.
