Paul Seixas found at fault for Ayuso crash in Quebec

Paul Seixas has been found responsible for the crash involving Juan Ayuso at the Grand Prix de Québec, ending the dispute over the French rider’s role in the incident. The ruling came after the fall occurred only a few metres from the finish, while around 10 riders were contesting the victory.

Ayuso was among those caught in the crash and hit the ground heavily. Despite the incident, the Spaniard reached the finish, crossing it on foot. His coach, Josu Larrazabal, had argued that the available images did not clearly show contact between Seixas and Ayuso. Larrazabal said a Lotto rider’s movement struck Seixas and sent him into the incident, while also stating that Ayuso himself had not blamed Seixas.

The decision nevertheless places responsibility on Seixas for the fall. Remco Evenepoel won the race after breaking away 28 kilometres from the finish, taking the victory alone and succeeding Julian Alaphilippe on the winners’ list. Attention now turns to Sunday’s Grand Prix de Montréal, which uses a similar type of course to the route planned for the world championships in the same streets from September 20 to 27.
