Philippe Diallo to set FFF stance on Infantino bid

Philippe Diallo will bring the French Football Federation’s executive committee together to determine whether France will support Gianni Infantino’s bid for another term as FIFA president. The decision will give the FFF an official position amid growing opposition to the FIFA leader’s recent initiatives.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday 10 September. Diallo has made clear that the federation must adopt a defined stance rather than remain neutral. His opposition to Infantino intensified after the FIFA president’s plan to create a commercial company failed, and he wants the current dispute to lead to deeper reforms in football governance.

France’s decision will come as other European federations organise their response. Italy has already declared itself against Infantino’s recent actions. UEFA figures are also coordinating their strategy around the Champions League draw, with the wider objective of forcing a change at the top of FIFA.

That campaign is not expected to stop UEFA competitions involving FIFA. UEFA is preparing to end its boycott so the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup can proceed normally, while maintaining pressure for Infantino to leave office. The FFF executive committee’s decision will therefore define France’s place in the European push before the FIFA election in March 2027.
