Prosper Peter ranks behind only Lamine Yamal

Prosper Peter has emerged as one of the most productive young scorers in Europe’s leading leagues, with only Lamine Yamal clearly ahead of him. The 19-year-old Angers forward reached six Ligue 1 goals after scoring against Troyes, placing him among the leading players born in 2007 or later.

Only Luka Vuskovic, with seven goals, and Barcelona’s Yamal, with 37, have scored more in that age group across Europe’s five major championships. Yamal has also started this season strongly, scoring six times in the first five rounds of La Liga, but Peter is much closer to Vuskovic than to the Spanish star.

Peter’s total is notable despite his limited role at Angers. He has appeared in each of the club’s first five Ligue 1 matches this season but started only once, accumulating about 160 minutes. His Troyes goal opened his league account for the campaign after he scored five times in 29 top-flight appearances last season.

His Ligue 1 career began in April 2025 against Lille, when he was 17 years and 261 days old. A little more than a year later, he has six league goals and is already one of the most effective young finishers in his age group.
