Rallye de Monte-Carlo returns to Gap for 2027

Gap will again be at the centre of the Rallye Monte-Carlo in 2027, hosting the event’s service park as the World Rally Championship begins a new regulatory era. The Alpine city will stage the base for the 95th edition from 17 to 24 January, extending a role it held from 2014 to 2021 and has regained since 2024. Gap has 41,000 residents and estimated the rally’s economic impact at €4.4 million in 2025.

The season-opening rally will feature 18 timed stages and 353.47 kilometres of competition. Three stages are scheduled for Thursday, with six each on Friday and Saturday and three on Sunday. Winter conditions could bring ice or snow, while some stages will run in darkness or at unusual hours, including a 20:05 start for stage three and an 08:05 start for stage 10.

Sunday’s Power Stage will use the Col de Turini route, matching the layout used in 2026. The 2027 itinerary will not include a stage on Monaco’s Formula One circuit, unlike the previous edition. Gap’s long-standing rally culture and strong local following remain central to the city’s role in the event.

Local nine-time Monte-Carlo winner Sébastien Ogier does not currently appear set to compete, having shown little indication of returning to the WRC next year. Sébastien Loeb, an eight-time winner, has also been absent recently while competing in the Dakar period; after Dacia’s withdrawal, he has not yet found a team for the rally-raid.
