Samuel Eto’o: Fécafoot executive committee threatens suits

Fécafoot’s executive committee has publicly backed Samuel Eto’o and raised the prospect of legal proceedings, turning scrutiny of the federation’s leadership into a direct dispute with critics and media outlets. The declaration is the federation’s first institutional response since The Times examined the fee for Cameroon’s match against Russia.

The committee describes the criticism as a coordinated campaign spread through social media and foreign media, driven by people acting anonymously. It says the claims rely on insinuation, unsupported accusations and information removed from its context. Fécafoot also says its administration is subject to regular internal checks, audits and evaluations, alongside FIFA’s requirements. The text warns that legal action could be taken to defend the interests of the federation, its leaders and the image of Cameroonian football.

Céline Eko and executive committee members Abdoulkarimou, Arthur Baber Djampir and Pascal Abunde signed the declaration. It follows a September 10 article in The Times, Eto’o’s response on Facebook and a September 14 announcement by ACFAC president Abdouraman Hamadou Babba that he would take the parties involved in the Fécafoot-Russia contract to court.

The committee links the criticism to Eto’o’s backing of FIFA president Gianni Infantino during a CNN interview published on August 24, 2026. It again praised Infantino’s proposed commercial structure and referred to an earlier declaration dated June 30, 2025.
