Senegalese Pro League closes season with CFA78.6m surplus

The Senegalese Professional Football League has finished the 2025-26 season with its finances in positive territory, while also clearing a substantial portion of longstanding payments owed to clubs and competition winners. The figures were presented at the league’s ordinary general meeting at Léopold Senghor Stadium on Saturday.

The league recorded a surplus of CFA78,613,055 for the season. It also paid CFA121.4 million in outstanding claims accumulated between 2021 and 2025. Those payments mainly covered bonuses owed to Ligue 2 champions and runners-up, as well as winners of the League Cup in previous seasons.

League president Babacar Ndiaye attributed the improvement to tighter control of spending and stronger financial transparency. The meeting was opened by Senegalese Football Federation president Abdoulaye Fall, who welcomed the federation’s efforts to improve the league’s financial position.

The figures point to progress, but the debt reduction was not achieved solely through the league’s own income. Federation support helped settle the old obligations, meaning the positive balance and the cleared claims represent an early step in the league’s financial restructuring rather than a complete resolution of its financial challenges.
