Strasbourg owners take full control after ownership changes

Strasbourg’s majority shareholders will take full control of the club’s capital after acquiring the stakes held by Todd Boehly and Mark Walter. Hansjörg Wyss will remain a significant shareholder and partner in the group. The club said the change will not affect its daily operations, leadership or sporting structure.

The ownership group bought Strasbourg in 2023 and has since backed investment in the men’s and women’s teams, youth development, recruitment, facilities and the links between the academy and first team. That period included a run to last season’s UEFA Conference League semi-finals for the men’s side, while the women reached seventh in the top flight after earning promotion to the Arkema Première Ligue two seasons ago.

The announcement comes with Strasbourg 18th in Ligue 1, without a point after one match and with a 0-4 goal record. Their recent results across competitions include defeats by Blackburn and Sporting CP, followed by wins over Monaco and Brest and a draw at Angers. The club’s next league fixture is away to Paris FC on September 19, 2026.

The majority shareholders intend to maintain the existing long-term strategy, including further work on sporting performance, player development, infrastructure and sustainable growth. The redevelopment of the Meinau stadium, which increased capacity to about 32,000 and modernised its facilities, remains part of that wider development plan.
