Teungueth FC seek Champions League qualification

Teungueth FC are positioned to advance in the CAF Champions League after winning the first leg against Canchungo in Guinea-Bissau. The Senegalese club must now protect that advantage in the return fixture and complete its progress from the preliminary round.

Teungueth FC won 1-0 away last week and will face Canchungo again on September 13, 2026. Malick Daf’s side has been urged to combine concentration with greater efficiency in the decisive second leg. The result leaves the Rufisque club with a narrow margin for error, despite holding the advantage from the opening match.

The club enters the tie after finishing first in Senegal’s Ligue 1 with 54 points from 30 matches. Its league record was built on 13 wins, 15 draws and two defeats, with 21 goals scored and six conceded. Teungueth FC’s recent form also points to a disciplined side: three wins and two draws in its last five matches, including four clean sheets. The sequence began with a 1-0 victory at Guediawaye FC, followed by 0-0 draws at DSC and against AJEL, plus wins over Stade de Mbour and Wally Daan.

A second successive clean sheet would send Teungueth FC through, while any failure to preserve the first-leg lead would leave the qualification decision open.
