Yann Gboho transfer to Coventry finally validated

Toulouse will receive more than €15 million from Yann Gboho’s move to Coventry after the delayed transfer was finally approved. The Franco-Ivorian winger is leaving Ligue 1 for England, with both clubs confirming the deal on Friday after several days of uncertainty.

The agreement had been reached during the final hours of the transfer window, but its completion depended on administrative approval. Toulouse and Coventry had to demonstrate that the required documents were submitted before the deadline. That clearance has now been granted, allowing the transfer to go through three days after the market officially closed.

Gboho was not selected for Toulouse’s 1-0 defeat by Lille on Thursday while the deal remained unresolved. He had been waiting for the outcome for three days, having been placed on standby as the clubs completed the final formalities. His departure follows a transfer period in which he was also linked with clubs in MLS and with Lyon.

Lyon eventually signed Reims forward Keito Nakamura instead, leaving Coventry as Gboho’s destination. He will join the promoted club under coach Frank Lampard and is set to continue his career in the Premier League. For Toulouse, the agreement provides a transfer fee above €15 million, while Gboho moves on after the administrative delay that had kept the deal from being announced immediately after the window closed.
