Zambo Anguissa honoured after ending Cameroon career

FECAFOOT has paid tribute to Zambo Anguissa after the midfielder ended his international career with Cameroon.

FECAFOOT has honoured André-Frank Zambo Anguissa after the midfielder decided to end his international career with Cameroon. The federation praised his commitment to the national team and said the Lions Indomptables’ door would remain open to him in any capacity.

Zambo Anguissa made his Cameroon debut in a friendly against Tunisia on 24 March 2017. He scored his first international goal later that year at the Confederations Cup in Russia, finding the net against Australia and being named man of the match. His record with the national team stands at 67 appearances and five goals.

The midfielder represented Cameroon at several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, including the 2021 edition hosted in Cameroon, where the team finished third. He also played at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and wore the captain’s armband on several occasions. Over nearly a decade, his strength, work rate and leadership made him a central figure in the Lions’ midfield.

FECAFOOT expressed gratitude for his professionalism and dedication to the national shirt, while wishing him success with his club and in his personal life. The federation also presented him as an example for younger Cameroonian players.
