Zambo Anguissa starts Napoli season with away win
The Cameroon midfielder started Napoli’s Serie A opener as a 2-0 win at Genoa put the club second.
Zambo Anguissa began Napoli’s Serie A campaign with a starting place and a victory, as the club collected three points away to Genoa. The result gives the Neapolitan side an early position near the top of the table, with Napoli in second place behind Inter Milan after the opening round.
The match at the Luigi Ferraris stayed goalless throughout the first half, with both teams competing closely in midfield. Napoli eventually found the breakthrough in the 82nd minute, when Kévin De Bruyne put the visitors ahead. Antonio Vergara extended the lead four minutes later, securing a 2-0 result for Massimiliano Allegri’s team.
Anguissa was part of Napoli’s midfield from the start and remained on the pitch for 67 minutes. The Cameroon international touched the ball 38 times and completed 87 per cent of his passes. He received a rating of 6.5 for his contribution during the opening fixture.
The away success gives Napoli a positive start to the new Serie A season and places the club directly behind Inter Milan in the early standings. For Anguissa, the match marked the beginning of another league campaign as a starter, although he did not play the full contest.
