Académie Chigata FC wins fourth straight Children of Africa title
Chigata FC retained the U12 Children of Africa trophy in Kouto, beating Académie Bagoué 3-0 for a fourth title.
Académie Chigata FC has strengthened its hold on the Children of Africa youth tournament, winning the U12 competition for a fourth consecutive edition. The final was held in Kouto on Saturday, August 29, with Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné serving as patron of the event and presenting prizes to the teams and standout players.
Chigata FC defeated Académie Bagoué 3-0 to claim the trophy named after First Lady Dominique Ouattara. The tournament’s best goalkeeper and leading scorer were both Chigata players. Sianhala finished third and received a kit, a ball and cash, while Bagoué earned a kit, two balls, a trophy and financial prizes as runners-up.
The 17th edition began in July and brought together eight teams from Sianhala, Gbon, Boyo and Kouto, all in the Kouto department of the Bagoué region. Chigata’s coaching staff credited the latest success to the players’ work, discipline and supervision. The competition was officially launched by Dominique Ouattara, president of the Children of Africa Foundation, on June 17 in Abidjan, and this year’s tournament covered 80 localities across Côte d’Ivoire.
