Amine Gouiri remains part of Marseille’s sale plans

Amine Gouiri remains one of the players Marseille could sell before the transfer window closes, despite opening the Ligue 1 season with a decisive performance. The Algeria international scored twice in the club’s 4-0 victory over Strasbourg, but his future at the club is still uncertain.

Marseille have made Gouiri available to several clubs, including Villarreal, although that approach did not lead to further talks. The 26-year-old centre-forward is valued at €28 million, while Marseille are seeking a fee in the €25m to €30m range. He joined the club from Stade Rennais for €19m in the 2024/25 season.

The possible departure is linked to Marseille’s need to reduce their wage bill. Coach Bruno Genesio has said the club must complete further sales before it can recruit new players, with several departures still under consideration. That financial constraint places Gouiri among the players whose situation could change during the final week of the market.

Gouiri holds Algerian and French citizenship and previously played for Nice and Lyon. The transfer window is due to close on September 1 at 8 p.m., leaving Marseille limited time to find a buyer at its requested price.
