Côte d’Ivoire retain Mara’Monde title with Togo win

Côte d’Ivoire defeated Togo 4-1 in Japoma to retain the Mara’Monde world title in 2026.

Côte d’Ivoire remain the world champions of maracana after successfully defending their Mara’Monde crown against Togo in the 2026 final. The result extends the Ivorian team’s hold on the competition and leaves Togo with the runners-up position.

The final, played on Sunday at Japoma in Cameroon, ended 4-1 in Côte d’Ivoire’s favour. Losseni Samaké opened the scoring in the second minute, but Togo equalised two minutes later through Artignon Ferdinand. Fabrice Zokou restored the lead in the eighth minute, taking his tournament total to eight goals before the interval.

Côte d’Ivoire strengthened its advantage early in the second period when substitute Méité Ibrahima scored after entering in the 15th minute. Zokou then completed the victory with his second goal of the match, reaching nine in the competition. He was also named the final’s player of the match.

The Ivorians controlled the closing period after building their three-goal cushion, limiting Togo’s routes forward and seeing out the victory. Coach Yobo Sylvain used the early second-period change to reinforce his side as it moved towards another global title.
