Camille Cerutti ruled out for season after knee injury

Camille Cerutti will miss the entire winter after suffering a serious injury to her left knee during France’s preparation camp in Ushuaia. The setback rules the French skier out of the speed events and giant slalom in the months ahead, ending her season after only 10 days of summer training.

Cerutti was injured while landing from a bump earlier this week. She did not fall, but felt a sensation she had experienced before. She has since returned to France and will undergo further examinations, with a new anterior cruciate ligament tear among the concerns surrounding the injury.

The Marseille-born skier confirmed the news on Saturday. It comes after her strongest World Cup season to date, highlighted by fifth place in the Super-G at Val d’Isère last December. Her absence removes a recent French contender from both the speed and giant slalom programmes.

Cerutti previously tore the cruciate ligament in her right knee and damaged the meniscus at the start of 2022. This time, the injury affects her left knee. She has already identified the 2027-28 winter as her target for a return, while acknowledging that the loss of the current season will take time to accept.
