Gora Camara continues Italian career with Maxima Roma

Senegal international Gora Camara has joined Maxima Roma, combining Serie A basketball with a place in the EuroCup.

Gora Camara will remain in Italy after joining Maxima Roma, extending a career that has already taken him through several of the country’s leading clubs. The move keeps the Senegalese international in Serie A and also gives him the chance to compete in the EuroCup, as Maxima Roma targets a stronger presence at domestic and European level.

The 25-year-old center is 2.14 metres tall and knows the Italian league well. He previously played for Virtus Bologna, Junior Casale, Victoria Libertas Pesaro and Universo Treviso Basket. With Virtus Bologna, he won the FIBA Champions League during the 2018-19 season, adding a continental title to his domestic experience.

Camara arrives at Maxima Roma after an important season with Rimini. He shared that campaign with fellow Senegalese player Assane Sankaré and helped Rimini Basket win the 2026 LNP Serie A2 Italian Cup. Rimini secured the trophy by beating Scaligera Basket Verona in the final.

The transfer therefore represents a step back into Italy’s top division after Camara’s successful run with Rimini. At Maxima Roma, his role will be linked to the team’s interior play, while the EuroCup schedule will expose him to opponents from across Europe. His new club becomes the latest stage in a sustained Italian adventure that began with Virtus Bologna and has included four previous teams.
