Jean-Jacques Boissy leads Senegal despite Egypt defeat

Boissy, Mbaye Ndiaye and debutant Mouhamadou Gueye stood out as Senegal lost 75-67 to Egypt.

Senegal’s defeat by Egypt was softened by strong individual contributions from Jean-Jacques Boissy, Mbaye Ndiaye and debutant Mouhamadou Gueye. Their performances provided the main positives for the Lions in a game decided by Egypt’s greater efficiency and stronger work on the defensive glass.

Egypt won 75-67. Boissy led Senegal’s scoring with 15 points and added three rebounds, making two of his 10 three-point attempts. Ndiaye finished with 13 points and six rebounds, while Gueye marked his first appearance for the national team with 12 points and four rebounds.

Captain Brancou Badio struggled from long range, missing all 12 of his three-point attempts, but contributed nine points, six rebounds and seven assists. His passing helped Senegal finish with 15 assists, more than twice Egypt’s seven. The team’s shooting and rebounding shortcomings, however, outweighed that advantage in ball movement.

Senegal made 51 percent of its two-point attempts and 22 percent from three-point range, compared with Egypt’s 57 and 31 percent. The largest gap came on defensive rebounds, where Senegal collected 13 to Egypt’s 21. Those missed opportunities limited the impact of the Lions’ leading performers and left them on the losing side.
