Kevin De Bruyne fires Belgium past Turkey with double
Kevin De Bruyne scored twice as Belgium beat Turkey 3-0 to move second in Nations League Group 1 on six points.
Kevin De Bruyne restored Belgium’s position near the top of Nations League Group 1 with two goals in a 3-0 win over Turkey. The victory moved the Diables Rouges onto six points and into second place, while France remained first on seven. Belgium had lost 1-0 to France four days earlier, making the response particularly important in the group standings.
De Bruyne broke the deadlock in the 10th minute after exchanging passes with Dodi Lukébakio. The Belgian midfielder then went past Abdulkerim Bardakci and finished from just outside the penalty area, giving Turkey goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir no chance. His second goal came shortly before the hour mark, when Youri Tielemans found him near the box. De Bruyne took the shot from roughly 20 metres and bent it into the top corner.
Romelu Lukaku completed the scoring in the 76th minute as Belgium secured a three-goal advantage. The result leaves Belgium directly behind France in Group 1 after three rounds, with De Bruyne’s finishing providing the key difference against Turkey. His performance also gave Belgium a strong answer following the defeat in the previous match, as the team converted its opportunity to collect three points and remain in contention at the top of the section.
