Louis Bielle-Biarrey set to remain at Bordeaux-Begles

Louis Bielle-Biarrey is being treated as a central figure in Bordeaux-Begles’ long-term plans, easing concerns that the France winger could eventually leave the club. His current contract runs until June 2027, and no extension has yet been completed, but manager Yannick Bru has indicated that the club expects to retain him.

Bru also identified Marko Gazzotti, Nico Depoortere and Pierre Bochaton as part of the same core. All four joined Bordeaux-Begles at a young age and have since developed into French internationals or important members of the squad. The manager sees them as the foundation of the team’s future and said their departure to another club would be unacceptable to the organisation.

The retention effort must still fit within the Top 14 salary cap. Keeping internationally recognised players requires the club to balance wages across the squad, particularly when contract renewals involve higher salaries. Bru said players’ pay should reflect their contribution, while also preserving those internal limits. He remains confident that Bielle-Biarrey and the other three players will understand the situation and that the club can keep them in Bordeaux. Concerns among supporters had grown after Toulouse’s planned summer transfer of Thomas Ramos to Racing 92 showed that even long-established internationals can leave their clubs.
