Mansour Samb draws late-window interest after five-goal start

Mansour Samb’s outstanding start at Vendée FC La Roche has turned his loan into a late transfer-market issue. A Ligue 1 club is examining a permanent move from Horsens while allowing the Senegalese forward to remain in Vendée until the end of the season. Several Ligue 2 sides are also considering ending his current loan to bring him into their squads immediately.

The 23-year-old has scored five times in three Ligue 3 matches, accounting for every goal scored by La Roche this season. His contribution has helped Frédéric Reculeau’s side reach third place after three rounds and explains why interest has intensified so quickly after his arrival.

Samb previously produced major scoring numbers in France’s amateur divisions. He struck 42 goals in his first season with Cholet, including 30 in R2 and 12 in the Coupe de France, before scoring 25 times in R1 for Les Sables-d’Olonne. His pace, physical strength and finishing had already drawn attention from Pau FC, a Ligue 2 club that ultimately abandoned a possible move at the final stage.

He later joined Danish second-tier club Horsens, but a minor injury and a coaching change restricted his role during the team’s promotion to the top flight. A return to France on loan was then agreed to restore his playing time, with La Roche securing his services. Three matches have now made Samb one of the most sought-after forwards at the close of the window.
