Open Metz-Grand Est unveils star-studded first edition
The new Metz tournament will feature Moise Kouamé, Hugo Gaston, Gaël Monfils and Yannick Noah in November.
Metz’s new tennis tournament is set to begin with a line-up combining emerging French talent, an established ATP player and two major figures from French tennis. The Open Metz-Grand Est will take over as the city’s main event after the Moselle Open ended last year.
The inaugural tournament will be held at the Arènes from November 15 to 22 and will carry ATP Challenger 125 status. Organisers have confirmed the participation of 17-year-old French prospect Moise Kouamé and fellow Frenchman Hugo Gaston. The event has the backing of the French Tennis Federation, the Grand Est League, the city of Metz, the Eurometropolis and the Grand Est region.
Gaël Monfils, who is approaching the end of his playing career, will also be present. He is not expected to enter the tournament but is scheduled to meet spectators for photographs and autographs.
Yannick Noah will add another attraction away from the draw. The 1983 Roland-Garros champion is due in Metz from Thursday for a Para Tennis Tour stop, which he coordinates, before performing a concert on the Arènes court during the tournament. The Moselle Open’s final edition was won by American Learner Tien, following French victories for Ugo Humbert in 2023 and Benjamin Bonzi in 2024.
