Trabzonspor reunites Mohamed Salah with Fabinho

Trabzonspor have brought Fabinho back together with Mohamed Salah, adding the Brazilian midfielder to a squad that already includes his former Liverpool teammate. The move gives the two players another chance to work together after five seasons at the English club.

Fabinho, 32, was shown wearing Trabzonspor colours in a video filmed aboard a private aircraft and shared by the Turkish club on Monday. His arrival follows the end of his spell with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, which began in 2023. He did not renew his contract with the Jeddah-based club.

The Brazilian and Salah spent five years as Liverpool teammates before taking separate paths. Fabinho moved to Saudi Arabia, while the Egyptian forward joined Trabzonspor on a free transfer earlier in August. Their reunion now gives the Turkish side two players with a shared history at one of Europe’s leading clubs.

Fabinho also referred to the presence of a familiar face waiting for him in Trabzonspor, pointing to Salah’s role in the move’s immediate storyline. The midfielder’s arrival therefore adds continuity between the club’s new Egyptian signing and a player he knows from his Liverpool career.
