Ignacio Buse wins again and reaches career-best ranking
Ignacio Buse beat Arthur Fery in straight sets to win Winston-Salem and move up to a career-high 30th in the world.
Ignacio Buse has claimed his second ATP title and will break into the world’s top 30 after winning Winston-Salem on hard court. The Peruvian’s latest success follows his victory at the 2026 Hamburg ATP 500 tournament and confirms his rise from 36th in the current rankings.
The third seed defeated Britain’s Arthur Fery, the fourth seed and world No. 37, 6-3, 6-2 in 1 hour and 13 minutes. The opening set remained even through the first seven games before Buse broke Fery at 4-3. He then held serve to take the set at the first opportunity created by the match’s score.
Buse continued to control the final from the start of the second set, breaking Fery’s opening service game and taking another break to move 3-0 ahead. Fery recovered one break, but Buse responded at 4-2 by taking the Briton’s serve again. He needed three match points to complete the victory.
The title came in Buse’s second career final. Fery was playing in his first, after reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals, but will also achieve a new career high despite the defeat. Buse is set to rise to 30th in the rankings, while Fery will move to 33rd.
