La Roche-sur-Yon takes lead after late Thionville win

La Roche-sur-Yon is the new Ligue 3 leader after a dramatic comeback at Thionville on the eighth matchday. The result gives the visitors an important advantage in the promotion race, while Thionville loses ground after holding the lead deep into the match. Valenciennes also secured a lift with a rare win against Le Puy-en-Velay.

Thionville went ahead through Tubio in the 60th minute, but La Roche-sur-Yon overturned the match at the end. Ndiaye levelled in the 89th minute before completing the turnaround two minutes into added time. The 2-1 victory puts La Roche-sur-Yon at the summit, while Valenciennes’ 2-1 success was only its second of the campaign. Ndiaye scored in the 24th minute and Linyon supplied the decisive goal in the 88th, after Gauthier had equalised for Le Puy before half-time.

The leading position comes as Concarneau extended its unbeaten run to seven matches with a 1-1 draw at Bourg-en-Bresse. Versailles moved up to fifth after beating Villefranche 2-1, leaving Villefranche at the bottom of the table following a fifth consecutive game without a win. Valenciennes’ late victory therefore provides welcome relief, even as the club remains defined by a season in which wins have been difficult to find.
