Palmeiras agree Alan move to Manchester City
Palmeiras have reached a verbal agreement for 22-year-old winger Alan to join Manchester City for €40 million.
Palmeiras have reached a verbal agreement to transfer young winger Alan to Manchester City, putting the 22-year-old Brazilian on course for a move to the Premier League. The deal has yet to be completed formally, with the remaining procedures still to be finalised by both clubs.
The proposed fee is €40 million, equivalent to about $46.6 million. Alan has played 21 league matches for Palmeiras this season, scoring four goals and supplying three assists. In the Copa Libertadores, he has added one goal and two assists across eight appearances.
The move would continue Palmeiras’ recent record of developing Brazilian talent for major European clubs. Alan came through the club’s academy, which also produced Estêvão, who moved to Chelsea, and Endrick, who joined Real Madrid. His departure would come while Palmeiras remain in contention on both domestic and continental fronts.
After 24 rounds, Palmeiras lead the Brazilian league and have also reached the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals. Alan’s contribution has therefore come during a campaign in which the club sits at the top of the domestic standings and remains alive in South America’s leading club competition.
