Pierre Ekwah joins Auxerre on loan from ASSE

Pierre Ekwah has joined Auxerre on loan from ASSE, with the club seeking points after a difficult Ligue 1 start.

Pierre Ekwah has joined AJ Auxerre on loan from ASSE, arriving as the club seeks to strengthen its position after the opening round of the 2026 Ligue 1 season. Auxerre are currently 17th, and Ekwah’s move comes before their next league fixture against Angers on August 29.

Auxerre have yet to collect a point in the competition. Their only Ligue 1 match so far ended in a 5-2 defeat, leaving them with two goals scored and five conceded. That result places them near the bottom of the early standings and gives added importance to the next opportunity to move up the table. Ekwah now joins the squad during that early attempt to change its league fortunes.

The club’s recent record outside that opening league result is stronger. Auxerre have won four of the five listed matches in their current sequence. They beat St Maur Lusitanos 5-2, Lille 2-0, Nice 2-1 and Angers 3-1. The only defeat in that run was a 2-1 loss to Orléans. Those results show a team that has produced several wins recently, although the 5-2 league loss means that form has not yet translated into points in the top-flight table.

The arrival also comes ahead of another meeting with Angers, whom Auxerre recently defeated 3-1. That August 29 match will be the club’s next chance to add to its points total and improve on 17th place. For now, Ekwah’s loan is the latest change around a side with no league points after one match but four wins in its five other listed recent fixtures.
